A reminder that odd minor numbers are beta releases. The first "full" release of this version of LEAP will be 1.2.0 If you'd like to have a look at it, please let me know by e-mail to rleyton@acm.org (Replying to this e-mail will mail all subscribers to this list), and I'll let you know the ftp site from which it may be downloaded. It's undergone quite a bit of change (but will still work with your existing databases), so I'd advise only those of you who are prepared for problems to get in touch. Some of the features: * Fixed format self containted files, containing: * An optimisation step * Tuple deletion * Command line editor with Emacs and VI keys (You'll need the GNU readline library) * Session recording * Logging of all output * New error handling functions * LEAP API library. * The start of an API (You can have a LEAP database in a directory and query it using a new query routine) * Basic (and do I mean basic) demo of the api. I'll stress again the program does have problems, but hopefully by getting feedback from you I can overcome the problems sooner than might otherwise be possible. I can happily assure you that the new version of LEAP is a big step forward, opening the way towards a much better dbms implementation for educational and light-weight back-end purposes. Looking very much forward to hearing from you. Regards, Richard. -- Richard Leyton http://www.dogbert.demon.co.uk/home.html mailto:rleyton@acm.org My opinions, My mistakes.
